Abstract: Have you been playing the grade game and tired of hearing, "do I get a grade for this?" Game-based learning is an emerging technology and hot topic in Education right now. Join this session and explore how game-based learning can be used in learning allowing students to earn badges, experience points, and "win: the game.

Objectives: Educators will explore the possibilities of game-based learning and the Flipped Classroom as a motivational tool to improve student performance and achievement. Educators will receive an overview of one tool that's available, 3D GameLab.

Importance: Game-based learning is an emerging topic listed in the 2012 Horizon Report published by the New Media Consortium. It builds on the idea of the Flipped Classroom model, and provides a structured way if managing that model by holding students accountable for tasks. And, it's different!
